Last of the Month Coupon Rush!!!

Hey, Y'all!

It's that time of the month.  Coupon sites will renew coupons either on the last day of May or the 1st of June. Either way, go to your favorite printable coupon sites and/or visit the ones below (which are mine) and get those coupons that you may have missed earlier this month.  My favorite printable sites:
I just bought a brand new HP computer for $30!!! Yep, just $30.  Okay, now that I have your attention, here's how I did it.  I use an American Express card for gasoline purchases for our big ol' motorhome, groceries, Costco purchases for our home and church, online stuff for birthdays, etc.  My "rewards" have been accumulating for about two years.  As of last month, I had $450 worth of "rewards"!!!

The rewards check could only be used at Costco.  So, with my "rewards" check nestled in my bosoms, I made a beeline for the computer that I previously researched online.  I did my homework :0)

A word of caution:  do not use your credit card when couponing unless you plan to pay off the amount you spend every month.  The interest payments will negate any coupon savings you may realize.

I only bought the cpu and not the monitor.  My total came to $450+tax (about $30).  BUT WAIT!!!  I also want a 28" monitor.  That is HUGE!  I hope to get the monitor for FREE!! (including the tax + 2 yr protection plan).  How?

Well, I sent you all a link several months ago for a survey site "Pine Cone Research".  It is a Nielson survey company contracted by different manufacturers to send out surveys for people to complete to help them market their products.  Anyway, I get $3 for every survey I complete.  I do about 1 to 2 surveys a week and sometimes one or two more.  I set the frequency.  I have accumulated $174 in survey money over the last year (58 surveys) + the rewards due from these four sites:  SavingStar ($21), WalMart Savings Catcher ($8), Ebates ($19), and CheckOut 51 ($19) Each one gives me a rebate on several of the grocery items I purchase each time I shop.  There are others but these are my favorites.

The monitor I want costs $219 (Amazon.com w/no tax+ free shipping+ $10 for the 2 yr protection plan) .  So, either way, I can now buy a new monitor for my new computer and use the other one for my old computer.  The old computer will be used as my 5th coupon terminal :0)  This will allow me to print up to 10 coupons per site (2 per computer).

So, for $30 I am getting a complete computer system.  The is our first computer in more than 10 years!

Check out the four savings sites highlighted above and start saving money.  BTW, if you use this EBATES link above to sign up, I will receiver $5 for each person who signs up and then uses the link during their shopping trip to purchase at least $25 within the next 12 months.

Finally, I am finalizing plans for an online coupon forum next month.  It will be held on a Saturday morning.  More information to follow.

In the meantime, Happy Couponing?

SavingStar: The Smart and Simple Way to Save!

Hey, Y'all!

I just got another payout for $21.77 with SavingStar.  My payout goes directly to my paypal account.  To date, I have gotten about $38.  I have been a member for a couple of years but never really tried to cash in on the savings that were offered.  However, over the last few months, they have really improved the product offerings, number of stores, deals, and made it even easier to reach my goal.  I printed my list and went to the store with the intention of meeting my goal of spending $12 for Dole products, specifically, the Dole Shaker Smoothies.  I had a 75¢/1 coupon that doubled to $1.50.  The Dole Shakers were $1.99 this week.  I only needed three additional items to meet the $12 requirement for the $4 bonus.  In other words, I spent $1.50 to get the $4.  But, the $4 also meant that all of the other items I bought were free because I used great coupons when the items were on sale to buy them.

Below, you will see the email that you will receive every time you get a new amount credited to your SavingStar account.  The email notifications are such a great motivation and one of the newest improvements.  Also, several new stores have been added with the option of scanning your receipts: Sam's Club, Safeway, Vons, Food 4 Less, H-E-B, Walmart, Target, Kmart, BJ's, Costco, Walgreens, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Meijer, and WinCo.

The most difficult part is to register all of your shopping cards.  But, once that is done, you won't have to do that again unless you add more cards to your account.  After you register all of your shopping cards, the next hardest thing to do is to remember to scan your card(s) each time you shop

AND, you can download the SavingStar cash back toolbar to get even more savings online: SavingStar Toolbar  To find out which grocery stores, dollar stores, marts, big box stores, & pharmacies in your area are participating, go to this link: SavingStar Stores (add your zip code).

That's it, for now!

Coupon Preview for May 31

Hey, Y'all

There are no coupon inserts expected this coming weekend.  The coupon preview for May 31st has already been revealed.  There will three inserts in that week's paper.  Here's the link to the CouponPreview for May 31st + a few links for even more savings.
Alert!!! The bird flu epidemic among laying hens in the midwest continues to wreak havoc on the poultry business.  These laying hens are not the ones that you will see on sale for baking, frying, etc.  These are the hens that lay those yummy breakfast eggs.

The egg market is taking a big hit and that will cause the prices to rise over the next few weeks.  If you see a sale on eggs, jump on it!  Estimate the number of eggs you will use in a 4 to 6 week period and then buy that number plus an extra dozen for unexpected recipes.

In my house, we use approximately 7-8 dozen eggs per month: breakfast, boiled for salads, use in potato salad, and of course, my Korean dishes that taste awesome with a soft boiled egg.

At any given time, we have about 6+ dozen in our refrigerator.  The eggs will last about 3 to 5 weeks in a cold (not freezing) refrigerator.  Check this link for more info:  How long will eggs last?

That's all!

May 17th Coupon Preview...

Good Evening to Everyone!

Just two more days til the weekend and three awesome inserts! :o) Coupon preview for May 17th (two RedPlums and one SmartSource)

Still trying to schedule a coupon class or two.  One change:  there will be a beginners and advanced class only.  I have backed away from June dates due to Vacation Bible School, graduations, weddings, etc.  So, I am now looking at July.  Stay tuned...

For those of you who live near me in Beltsville, MD or even if you don't, you can always drop by or meet me at the ShopRite.  I love company and would love to "play coupons" anytime.  So, formal class aside, just send me an email and say, "ShaRon, you gonna be home tomorrow around 6 PM ?  Can I come by?" If I am home, I will never say, "No."

Another coupon class idea: how about a coupon conference call where you can ask all the questions you want, share your coupon shopping victories, and just get support to continue to save money for your family.  There's even a way I can share my screen with you and you can see how I prepare for a coupon shopping trip.  Sounds like a great idea to me.  That way, we can do this multiple times and never have to get dressed from the neck down :o)

Finally, if you use anything made of paper or need diapers, you will love this coupon site:  PickUp the Values  This site features coupons for these products:  Depend, Poise, Cottonelle, PullUps, Huggies, Kotex, Goodnites, Viva, Scott, and Kleenex.  Use Grandma's info to register to get access to the coupons.

That's it!
Happy Couponing,

ShopRite Update...

Hey, Y'all
I went to my local MD ShopRite and discovered that they are indeed still doubling $1 coupons to $2.  However, they are not advertising this fact any longer.  Hopefully, this will cut down on the rabid couponers who coupon to hoard and then resell their items on ebay, flea markets, yard sales, etc.

My basement is filled with my couponing victories but I have never sold a single item.  I give them to community food drives, to ministries at my church, and feed my family.

One thing that has changed is SRite's new policy on doubling printable coupons.  The new policy will no longer allow them to override and double a coupon if it does not do so automatically. They will continue to override coupons from inserts if they don't double but not printables.  This happened to me this afternoon.  One of my Chobani Greek yogurt coupons did not double and the manager informed me of the new policy.

Bottom line, try to get as many of your high dollar coupons from inserts first rather than try to print them.  Be prepared to ask "nicely" for the item to be removed, if a printable coupon does not double.

That's it!

5.3.15 Coupon Previews

Hey, Y'all!

It's my time of the month!!!  I love the last day of the month  because most of my favorite coupon sites restock their coupons on the first of the month and we can start loading up from a whole new selection.  So, check out these great coupon sites for new printable coupons:
We are set to receive FOUR coupon inserts this weekend!!!!  Check my blog for the coupon preview of the four inserts:  5.3.15 Coupon Preview Most grocery stores and pharmacies post next week's sales as early as tonight!!  Get ready for your shopping trip early and get to shopping Sunday before you go to church :o)

Look at Next Week's Sales
ShopRite.com - Not sure if SRite will continue to double $1 coupons... I did not see that on next week's insert. :o(
RiteAid.com I'm not sure when they post next week's ads

I am planning a coupon class for next month but I need to know just how much interest there is.  The class will be either on a Friday evening (7 PM to 9 PM) and/or Saturday morning (10 AM to 12 Noon).    The classes will be held at my home because I cannot obtain an open space at my church for May.  The class will be free and I only ask for 10 cans of veggies from each participant for our church's ministry to the needy.

I live in Beltsville, MD near Laurel.  Let me know your interest (beginner, intermediate, or advanced) and I will form a class convenient to the majority who respond.

That's it!
Happy Couponing!!!
