Coupon Previews Week of March 19-25

I hope everyone is enjoying the snow, ice, and sleet as the Winter of 2017 fades into Spring.  Just about 90 days from now, we will be sipping lemonade by the pool or in my case, the fish pond.  At any rate, being snowed in with my sweetheart now takes on an entirely different flavor when we add ten extra people. 

I did take time today to begin decluttering my office space yet again.  I can see the top of my desk for the first time in weeks.  Every time I clean my desk and office, I swear that I will never let it get this bad again.  I'm really keeping that promise this time...

​Here's a link to a coupon facebook group I joined a few months back.  The founder of the group Coupon Central is located in the suburbs of Washington, DC.  It is a closed group and you will need to get permission to join.  It is a very popular coupon group and it may take a week or two before you are granted access to the posts.  The wait is worth it.  Lots of deals you won't find elsewhere but are local, if you live near DC.  ​

​I had a life changing event Friday.  I went to my local Shoppers on Contee RD in Laurel, MD.  We were having tacos and I needed to get some tortillas, salsa and hot sauce.  I had a 55¢/1 coupon for Texas Pete hot sauce.  (My grandkids love it!!)  Well, went through the self checkout lane and as with many stores now, the associate had to scan the coupon for me.  I noticed that it did not double as expected.  So, I brought this to the associate's attention.  After checking with the mgr, she told me that this particular Shopper's no longer doubles coupons but the one near Ft. Meade still does.

My heart sank and I started to feel faint as I felt the earth tremble beneath me.  I thought the end of the couponing universe must be near.  So, this Shoppers  supermarket has joined the no doubling ranks of WalMart, Food Lion, Dollar Stores, pharmacies, and many others in our area.  In my area, only ShopRite (doubles $1 coupons); Giant, Safeway, Harris Teeter, and Weis still double coupons, for now.  I am not sure about Wegmans.  I have never couponed at Wegmans.

Let us enjoy the bounty of the coupon deals while we can.  I foresee a time when the real shoppers will have learned to shop the real sales with or without coupons.

Finally, like everyone else, I braved the cold to stock up before the great storm.  I gathered up my 8 year old granddaughter and we headed out.  We headed straight for 7-11 and bought two Slurpees.  It felt so good to know that my four freezers and basement pantry were well stocked and I only needed to buy a couple of ice cold Slurpees.  They were great!  We had brain-freeze all the way home.  We did a pinky swear to wait until we were sweating before we buy any more Slurpees.

Happy Spring!

Hey, Y'all!

We have survived the winter that wasn't!  Well, that was some people say.  For my tastes, if I am not sweatin', it is not warm enough for me.  I look forward to the hot sweltering spring and summer temps.  Heck, I can always strip down to my birthday suit and sip lemonade in the shade.  On the other hand, when it is really cold outside, I shiver to the bone no matter how many layers I wear.

​3 Day Super Doubles at Harris Teeter​

​Looks like 3 days vs 7 days Super Doubles will become the norm for HT Super Doubles.  Also, I see a pattern of it appearing the first weekend of the month.  In January, February, and March of this year, the Super Doubles have appeared the first weekend of the month.  My thoughts:  I think HT is doing this so that couponers are caught unprepared and will not have long enough to get prepared.  What is prepared?  Clip coupons; match deals; order coupons from mail order coupon clipping services;​

​ scanning coupon blogs for posted deals at HT; and/or making multiple shopping trips to the store over a period of a week.  But, if the first weekend pattern persists, we will all be prepared for April.

Finally, my Washington Post subscription ran out the last weekend of February.  I will now have to renegotiate my subscription rates.  I plan to order 4 newspapers but depending on the rates.  I recommend 1 newspaper per person in your home.  I have 13 in my home and should order 12-14 papers per week.  However, not all inserts have the coupons I will use.  There are weeks when I don't use any and I hate to have invested $12 for inserts full of coupons I will not use or newspapers that have no coupon inserts for that week. 

Okay, I just finished "negotiating" with the Washington Post for my new yearly subscription rate.  My original bill for the coming year thru March 2018 was going to be $769.60!!!!  After threatening to cancel my subscription, I got passed along to their "subscription retention agent".  That's the person who is supposed to figure out how to keep me from cancelling the subscription.  I said to him, "Heck, I only want the coupons.  I can't afford nearly $800 for coupon inserts!"  His reply, "Mrs. Conway, you have been a great customer for many years...yada, yada, yada..."  I let him talk..."So, we are going to allow you to have the 4 subscriptions for another year for $218.25." 

I could have kept going to get a better price but...I didn't.  I am satisfied with my deal as it is.  Bottom line, don't accept the first price quoted.  There is almost always a better deal behind the next curtain.

I really wanted to add more papers to my subscription.  However, I was trying to save money.  Besides, I have other sources of coupon inserts.  My husband's brother (by another mother) gathers "orphaned" coupon inserts during his walk each morning.  My sister and I exchange coupons via the mail.  Of course, printable coupons often yield higher value coupons that you find in the inserts and they are free.  Here are a few of my favorite printable sites:

Super Doubles at HT, New Week of Sales at ShopRite, and Coupons, too!

Happy New Year!

Okay, I think it is officially not a "new" year anymore...

No talk about politics or other worldly concerns here. 
We just want to know where the next grocery deal is. 
We just want to stock up to hunker down for the next few weeks until Spring arrives. 
So, let's all go make couponing great again!!!

Check the expiration dates in your P&G insert from last week.  Some coupons expire very early.

Check your regular coupon expiration dates, too. Some expire after only 7 days!  I think the

premise is that they are trying to be sure that there is not enough time for folks to order (buy)

coupons online and receive them before the coupon expires.

Printable coupons on coupon.com and other sites have reset and you should be able to extract

more printables for this month.  Check out my old blog TheBizzyCouponBee add click on the tabs

for printable coupons and some other favorite coupon sites.  Sadly, I am not able to edit this site

any longer but the information is still quite good.  I hope that this summer, I will be able to start

a brand new blog and website.  Just trying to find a little "spare" time while helping to raise 8-11 kids :o)

Beauty & the Beast Tickets 2 for One!!!

Just lucked up on this deal today and totally forgot to send it out.  If you have little kids who love the Disney movies, please take a look at this deal for Beauty and the Beast.

I was able to get 6 tickets for about $20.  I bought two tickets at a time and used the promo "5off" to get an additional $5 off the price of the two.  The deal is buy one get one free.  Once you select the tickets, if it does not show the ticket discount in the total the deal may be over in your area. 

Again, I purchased two tickets at a time and since all my seats were reserved, I had to do so quickly so that my kids would all be together with me and Poppi. Unfortunately, I got locked out the third time was was not able to get the promo to go through.  Still a fantastic deal and I am so excited to be able to see this with my little ones.

​WHEW!!! Can we officially stop saying "Happy New Year!"?

My life is finally slowing down after the holidays.  My grandkids were in overdrive X10!!!  And, at the end of all this, I just had my 70th birthday!!  Yes, I am officially an old lady and loving it.  Had I known how much fun 70 would be, I would have been born 70 and gone on from there. 

What are a few of the advantages of being 70 years old?  I am so glad you asked.  First, I can say "no" and not even think about giving a reason and no one asks me "why?".  They may want to but don't. 

Second, I no longer feel I have to apologize for forgetting to do something.  I just tell folks that if they wanted someone to remember they were supposed to do or say something, they should have asked someone younger. 

Next, I have come to the realization that one morning I am not going to wake up.  It is for this reason that I have decided that if I am going to do something, it must be fun.  I am no longer going to waste my time doing stuff that I do not enjoy.  ​Life is short and at 70, I know for certain that I have lived out most of my years and have only a few more (may be) to go. 

As strange as it may seem, I am excited about my next journey.  I look forward to crossing over to be with my Jesus, to see the face of God, and joining my ancestors who paved the way for me to have such as incredible journey.  I highly recommend growing old.  I also recommend being nice to everyone around you.  For one day, you may need someone to roll your wrinkly behinds over and change that nasty diaper. 

I know that I will not always be in charge of my comings and goings.  Scripture says, "I tell you the truth, when you were young, you were able to do as you liked; you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted to go. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will dress you and take you where you don't want to go."  ​John 21:18​

Harris Teeter Shopping Hack!

Hey, Y'all!

Harris Teeter Super Doubles start today!!!

As most of you already know, our house is bursting at the seams with our 8-11 grandkids (depending on who is spending the night).  The last thing I have to waste is my TIME!!!  I have noticed that my couponing has not been as fervent as it had been in the  previous year.  I just did not have the "extra" time to aimlessly wander the aisles searching for bargains.

I love to coupon.  It is my stress reliever.  I have to focus only on the thrill of the bargain or that amazing high value coupon and nothing else.  But, alas, I have not been able to do that, until today. 

I decided to grab that HT Super Doubles spreadsheet and match up some coupons with those deals.  But, what makes this trip different is that I am placing my order online.  It only costs $4.95 to order my groceries and have my own personal shopper do all my grocery shopping for me.  So, imagine my surprise when I realized that my final out of pocket will be about $13 AND because this is my very first online order with HT, my $4.95 fee is waived!!!!  YESSSSSS!!!

After all my coupons, sales, etc., my bottom line out of pocket should be about $13 + tax.  I will have to scan my coupons at the store. I scheduled my pick up for the first day of the Super Doubles Sale and the first time slot in the morning.  Hopefully, this will mean that all of my items will be in stock.  I planned to go really early in the morning and shop for myself but this is so much better and it is free.  I really don't have the time to do my own shopping.
