Food Lion Coupon $5 off $5 Purchase!

Hey, Y'all!

I hope you all had a relaxing Christmas with your family and friends.

Here's a great deal I just received from Food Lion.
I rarely shop at Food Lion but I do have a Food Lion Customer card.

I registered my card on their website a few weeks ago and have been receiving special offers via email.
So far, this is the best one I have gotten.

You can print the
$5 Food Lion Coupon for yourselfOne coupon per customer. (If you are unable to print the coupon from the link on the image below, let me know and I will forward my email to you.) The coupons expire on this coming Saturday, December 29th.

Pair this with another store or manufacturer's coupon for some great deals at Food Lion.

Check the coupons on their website Food Lion Web Coupons (you must register your card first on the Food Lion website).  There is a $5 off rebate coupon when you purchase beef or pot roast.  It does not say anything about a minimum weight for the beef or pot roast.  With the $5 rebate, you can really make a great deal for some inexpensive meat.

The rebate offer (expires 1.31.13) is from Blue Moon beer but no beer purchase is necessary. In addition, the rebate form does not mention Food Lion at all.  It appears that you can purchase the meat anywhere but you must have a receipt.  Here's the link: $5 Beef or Pot Roast Coupon

Dumpster Diving for Catalinas

Today, I found $57 in the trash at Giant Food in Laurel, Maryland.  I was walking to the front entrance when my eyes got a glimpse of the blue bar code of a catalina coupon.  You know catalinas.  They are the coupons that print at the end of your transaction and are often triggered when you buy certain products to encourage you to try something else.  Or they can be a reward for your brand loyalty.

Anyway, like I said, I got a glimpse of the blue bar code on a crumpled catalina.  I reached into the trash can...yes, I did.  Once I removed the catalina, I saw another and removed that one and then realized that little trash can was full of discarded catalinas.

Just a few of the $57 worth of catalinas I rescued from the trash.
There were catalinas for diapers, baby food, shampoo, k-cups coffee, toilet paper, yogurt, children's cough syrup, over the counter meds, bread, children's vitamins, sausage, soup, cascade, and two blinkies for cookie dough!  Now, I will not use many of the catalinas but was taken aback on just how many were thrown away by other shoppers.  It gave me good bumps just thinking about how many have been tossed the entire month or this year and last year.

This was my first venture into the trash can/dumpster diving coupon underground and I am not sure that is will by my last.  I do not believe that I can resist the lure of the  blue bar code of the catalina in the trash can.

My CVS Paper Towel Toilet Paper Deal

Hey, Y'all

I know that you are busy getting ready for the holidays.
Whether you are hosting or going for a visit this holiday season, you will need paper towels or toilet paper.  My coupon classes always have students who want to know how I get my toilet paper and/or paper towels for free or almost free.

I have planned a shopping run to CVS tomorrow for 30 rolls of paper towels.
My shopping budget for CVS this week is $20 OOP (out of pocket).

I will start the trip with a $10 ExtraCare Bucks(ECBs) coupon that I got on a shopping trip to CVS two weeks ago.

Well, here's the scenario I will use on Wednesday:  This deal ends 12.15.12

  • I will buy 5 Scott Mega Roll Choose-a-size paper towels (6 PK) @ $5.98 each = $29.90
  • Use 5 Scott $1.25/1 coupons + $10 ECB (you will have to sign up as a new member to get the coupons.  They are only available if you are a NEW member.  I signed up email addresses using my junk mail/spam folderYou will also have to give them 3 email contacts.  I used several from my spam folder, too. :-)  You will only be able to print two coupons per computer and you will need 3 computers.)
  • $29.90 - $6.25 (Qs) - $10 ECB = $13.65 OOP and receive $10 ECB or $13.65 - $10 ECB (received at check out) = $3.65
  • Bottom line: Get 30 rolls of toilet paper for $3.65 (approx. 12¢ per roll)
Not quite free but almost!

If you have fewer or more ECBs, your bottom line will vary from mine.  I will scan my card when I enter the store and hopefully receive a dollar or two in ECBs and use those to lower my bottom line.

How do you get ECBs?

  • Get ECBs by participating in online surveys (www.cvsadvisor.com).
  • You will receive % off ECBs every week when you register your CVS card on www.cvs.com
  • You will receive an ECB in your email as soon as you register your card.
  • Each quarter you will receive an ECB equal to 2% of your spending for the previous 3 months.  There's a special until the end of the year.
You will get an alert when you scan your card telling you about get double spending credits until January. You have to go to the cashier and they will scan your card and the coupon and you will start to accrue the double spending credits for the rest of this year.
  • Scan your card at the CVS Redbox coupon machine each time you enter the store.
  • Scan the card twice per visit (only once a day).
  • Get a CVS green bag tag at any CVS for more info on how it works, click this link:  CVS Green Bag Tag

Coupon Shopping at CVS

My Latest CVS Shopping Trip

I had a great evening at my local CVS in Laurel, MD.  I took my 81 year old buddy shopping with me.  Her name is Sarah and she was so funny.  Usually, she just likes to ride but decided to do a little shopping.  I had coupons for nearly everything she purchased.

Sarah was certain that CVS was not going to let her take the Palmolive detergent out of the store.  It was only going to cost 50¢ per bottle after coupons.  At first, she was only going to get one bottle. After, I told her that I had enough coupons for her to get 8 bottles, she quickly grabbed 7 more.  I think she is hooked on couponing!

You can see my reward in the photo below.  I was able to purchase $58.60 for $17.40 and receive $8 in ExtraCareBucks.  That means I got everything for $9.40!

2 Bottles Listerine (500ml)
2 Bottles Nivea Extended Moisture
1 Palmolive Detergent 10 oz
2 - 6 oz Tubes of Colgate Max Fresh toothpaste
6 Tubes Nivea Lip Care
2 CVS Chest Rub (generic Vicks Vapo Rub)
