Hey, Everyone!

Thought I would drop y'all a line about my coupon shopping this summer.  In short, I haven't done any supermarket couponing since May/June.  My family has been living off the "stores" in our basement storehouse.  We have supplemented them with purchases at Sam's Club and HMart for our dairy (eggs & milk), produce and meats.  My CVS shopping has also been limited but I have done some couponing for staples like laundry soap, toilet tissue and paper towels.

We have been saving money by not shopping.  Yes, tons of fabulous coupons have expired in my dandy brand new coupon carrier.  But, I have saved lots of money by using what I have in my "storehouse" and freezer.  The savings could have been much more but my dear husband is addicted to Sam's Club and Costco.  So, he sneaks to those stores on a regular basis.  Despite that, we still saved because I would have been going to the supermarket AND to Sam's and Costco, as well.

Now, is as good a time as any to start beefing up your pantry to carry you deep into the winter months.  Stock up on fixin's for hearty soups, stews, casseroles, and desserts.  Freeze the last of the summer bounty of veggies and fruits before the first frost.  Grab extra family size packs of poultry and meats of your choice when they are on sale or reduced for quick sale.  Freeze in smaller packages to make them more likely to be used for small family dinners or grouped for larger holiday feasts.

See a real bargain...buy as much as you can afford and store or freeze.  Remember, only buy what you will use, eat, or share.  Build up your storehouse so that you can help your family and bless others from the bounty.

Three inserts this weekend:  RedPlum    SmartSource    P&G BrandSaver
Check the expiration dates closely.  Some coupons seem to be expiring in as little as one to two weeks!

Happy Couponing!
