Online: Cyber Monday Deals & More...

Hey, Y'all!

I am not one down for the hunt for Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals.  However, I know some of you were probably bustin' down chains to grab those super deals this weekend.
I was reading my December AARP magazine and saw several tips that I wanted to pass on to you.

Here are some tips for shopping saavy online and in stores:
  1. PricePinx.com to get notified the instant an item you are craving is marked down.
  2. Follow your favorite retailer online via Facebook & Twitter for access to sales and markdowns.
  3. Buy discounted gift cards at Gift Card Granny  and Card Cash.  You may be able to get gift cards discounted by as much as 35%!!
  4. Comparison shop online by using search engines: ShopStyle.com for fashion and home products; Shopping.com and BizRate.com for commodity items like TVs.  PriceGrabber.com compiles items with the lowest prices from across the internet.
  5. Overstock.com and 6pm.com are pots of gold at the end of the deal hunter's rainbow.
  6. Google the item and add "best price" to it.  For example, "Samsung 6 Best Price"
  7. "Dynamic Pricing" fluctuates based on your search history and can raise prices by a few cents or $100+.  This has happened to me several times on Amazon.com.  The solution is to browse incognito to avoid site "cookies" that store your search history.  To open a private window <press Control + Shift + N> (in Windows, Linus and Chrome OS); Command + Shift + N (Mac).
  8. Amazon Shoppers: Amazon prices change daily and sometimes hourly.  Check Camelcamelcamel.com for the cost history of any item on Amazon.com.
  9. Check the "Deals" listed under the black Amazon banner for other great deals.  Don't forget to browse the deals incognito via the private mode (see #7)
  10. Shop Amazon Warehouse & Amazon Outlet
  11. Load these two apps on your smart phone:  Amazon and ShopSaavy.  Snap a photo of an items bar code and automatically compare prices among thousands of real live retail stores.  The app actually has coupons you can show on your phone for more discounts.
  12. Finally, if you have the time, give the online retailer a call or online chat.  Ask for specials, promo codes, discounts, etc. on the item(s) you want to purchase.  Be extra sweet and you may fill your pot of gold with great savings and more deals than you can count.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Hey, Y'all!

I know you probably thought I had fallen off the edge of the earth and landed on the moon.  But, I have been so busy with my big family and have only now settled into a groove that will soon allow me to get back to my shopping trips and blog posts.  I might even have time to do a coupon class or two.  However, for now, I will be very much Bizzy MiMi in the Kitchen; at the grocery store; at the pharmacy or wherever I find myself.  I want to begin doing more videos, too.  They are quicker and more fun than just sitting and typing and rambling on and on like I am doing right now.

Anyway, I have been teaching a class at my church on budgeting and paying down personal debt. Part of the class assignment is to have one area of their finances as cash only with a fixed budgeted amount.  I chose "groceries" to be my cash only budget item.  I set our family limit at $600 per month.  That is really low for feeding 11 people each month.  However, I have a full pantry, two freezers, and three refrigerators with freezers all full of frozen foods; eggs; veggies, fruit all waiting to be devoured.  So, for now, we are starting with the $600.  My husband has an envelope with $350 and I have one with $250.  He purchases paper and plastic eating utensils, plates, cups, bathroom tissue, paper towels, etc. in addition to groceries.

I made my first cash only purchase at ShopRite Saturday night.  How did I do?  Look & see for yourself https://youtu.be/HN6-RWZMI2w

My total before coupons was $98.72; after I swiped my customer card, it dropped to $65.80; after coupons were scanned it dropped to $36.46.  I also received two catalina coupons: $2 off my next fresh meat purchase; $5 off my next grocery purchase that made my bottom line just $29.46 down from $98.72. Haaaay!

I have missed some awesome deals these last few weeks because I have been fulfilling my pledge to prepare meals only from what we have on hand (in our freezers and pantry) for at least a month.  We have been doing just that and have been able to save simply by not going to the supermarket.

We are continuing to eat from our stocked freezers and pantry and supplement our meals with purchases of fresh fruit, veggies, and milk.  I have to reign in my husband's purchases because he will go to the store hungry and come home with stuff we really do not need: cookies, potato chips, brownies, cake, pies, honey buns, etc.  Hopefully, his cash based budget with help him resist his junk food splurges.

Sadly, there's only one insert expected next weekend following Thanksgiving.  Here's the link to PG Insert coupon preview.  The next several weeks in December should prove to be bountiful for couponers.  January will definitely be a wonderful day for couponers.  You can expect as many as four or five inserts the first Sunday in January.

In the meantime, Happy Thanksgiving!

Coupon Updates

Harris Teeter Super Double Coupons 3 Days Only!!!
Double coupons with face value of up to $2
$2 coupons will be doubled to $4!!!!
Limit 20 coupons per day and limit of 3 like coupons per day
Sunday, October 16 through Tuesday, October 18, 2016

Hey, Y'all!

It's been a while since I have sent out any coupon updates.  I have been soooo bizzy with my big family.  I wish I could afford to pay someone to shadow me during my daily routine.  That would surely be a viral video.  I feel like a real grandma.  Cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, doing dishes, checking homework, making snacks, putting bandaids on microscopic booboos, settling spats, combing hair, and just listening to what they say and don't say. WHEW!  I got out of breath just typing that.

Thankfully, tomorrow we start with a brand new chore chart.  We had one this summer but never really did anything with it.  I usually just grabbed someone as they walked by to do whatever had to be done at the time.  This worked okay for the youngest kids (ages 4 to 9).  However, we have four teenagers and a preteen who quickly figured out how to avoid me and any chores.

So, now since school routines have settled in, we are going forward with our chore chart.  I will have to let you know how this pans out later.

I am currently on a 4 to 6+ week challenge to refrain from purchasing any meat products of any kind.  My two freezers and three refrigerator freezers are so tightly packed that I could barely stuff in a package of bacon.  So, rather than spend more money on more meats, we decided to save money by eating what we have on hand.  We are only buying bread, dairy, eggs, fresh fruit, veggies, juice, and toiletries for the next 4 to 6 weeks.  This is the end of week 2 and we have been pretty good at sticking to our challenge.

My job is to scan the freezers and make a menu (breakfast & dinner) from what we have on hand.  I cleaned out my freezers a few weeks ago to make it easier to see what we have.  That was the best thing I have done all summer.  I organized it according to meats, poultry, seafood, frozen prepared meals, frozen make ahead meals, veggies, and fruit.  I did make a video but have not posted it just yet.  I should have it up by late Saturday.  I will be sure to send you the link when it is up and ready to go.  No frills, just the video.

There are some great sales coming up at Harries Teeter next week (Super Doubles double coupons with face value up to $2) and ShopRite where they double coupons with a face value up to $1.  Also, I have been doing quite a bit of shopping at Aldi's and Save-a-lot.  Aldi's brands are very good and they offer a double guarantee (they will refund your money and replace the item) if you are not pleased.  I have tried several of their items and have been pleased with all except some veggie chips.  They were just plain gross.  I took them back and got my money back.  I chose not to get the item replaced.

Next, I know several of you have been asking about coupon classes.  I have been quite busy with my eight grandkids (minus the two who are away in school) and their father who now reside with my husband and I.  It is coming up on a year in November and we have come a very long way but still have a long journey ahead of us all. Anyway, I will not be doing another coupon class this year.  I am teaching four financial bootcamp classes on four Sundays at my church during the church school hour in Nov & Dec.  Hopefully, I will be able to return to coupon classes in January.  I will do my very best to stay in touch via coupon videos and the weekly coupon deals updates.   Next week, I will share with you some of the links I used to teach myself the art of the deals using coupons.

Finally,two inserts expected this weekend:

Living Rich with Coupons

Hey, Y'all!

Have not had the energy to go shopping for anything this past week.  All those awesome deals passed me by.  But, my coupon mantra says, "Don't fret over missed deals and expired coupons. There will always be more deals and better coupons to match them."

I have a horrendous summer cold and ten kids clamoring to be fed three square meals, snacks, and dessert everyday.  I don't have the option to wimp out because of a stinking cold.  But, I did today!  Thankfully, I have been teaching all of my kids from the 4 year old up to the 17 year old to prepare meals.  This afternoon my 15 year old grandson barbequed three or four racks (15 lbs) of spare ribs; my 4, 6, & 7 year olds prepared the veggies (frozen green beans and corn on the cob).  I am so very proud of them.  Those of you who know my little ones think they are perfect in every way... Well, let me just say this.  They are "children" and behave like children whenever they get the chance.

Decided to share a favorite coupon website with you.  All of these links will help you get the best deals with or without coupons.  My goal is to stay out of the stores because there is no better proven way to save money than not to shop.  I try not to shop more than once per week.  That has been easy this week because I am sick.  But, I will try to get out either Friday morning or Saturday morning.

Finally, I am going to give you a quick look at our "storehouse": basement pantry, three refrigerators, and two freezers next week.  I am also preparing meals for the school week and will let you see how we do that, too.  We will prepare (pre-cook) about 30 pounds of home-fried potatoes; 10 pounds of bacon; corn muffins; french toast; and pancakes.  I won't do all of that in one day.  Each time I prepare those items for a meal, I will just "overcook" and freeze the rest for other meals.  The kids LOVE home-fries and bacon for breakfast.  Only a few really like eggs with their breakfast.  But, they love deviled eggs for after school snacks.

I am so glad school will be starting next week.  Early bedtimes for everyone at 8 PM...YES, YES, YES!  Our kids are like the walking dead in the morning.  I have given wake up duties to their father.  The first wake up is at 5 AM...Good Luck!  This also means I will have about 6 hours of "free" time to do other things.  Well, I hope that my meal planning and preparation will actually give us more "free" time during the day.

Finally, I really want to do more videos with my family to let you share in our victories and a few of our defeats, too.  The children are remarkable and we are all so very proud to be a part of their lives.

Living Rich with Coupons is one of my favorite go to sites for deal match ups for supermarkets and pharmacies.  I am sure you will find this site very helpful, too.  All of the featured links below are from LivingRichwithCoupons.com This site features lots and lots of awesome links that will help you plan your shopping and your meals for your hungry family.  The links on the website will also teach you how to be a better couponer.

I hope you have an awesome week shopping and enjoy the deals!

Happy Couponing!

Red Hot Deals...

Hey, Y'all!
Just taking out a little time to let you know that I love my CouponBees!!!

First, CouponBee Valda sent me an email to let me know that Aldi has one dozen large eggs on sale for 79¢/dz!!  I 'bout had a happy fit right in the middle of whatever I was doing.

As many of you know, my family grew from two to thirteen literally overnight last fall.  That includes ten children + one addition to the thirteen, their cousin who shows up on Fridays for the weekend.  Everyone in our house loves eggs in one form or another:  french toast, scrambled, pancakes, waffles, boiled, egg salad, fried rice (with eggs), sausage casserole, over easy on ramen and hamburgers, egg salad, and pickled.  That equates to about 2 to 3 doz eggs per week.

So, I rushed out to Aldi's yesterday morning and bought twelve dozen.  I was down to two dozen and was getting a little nervous.  I grabbed my eggs and danced out of Aldi's (total for my 12 dz eggs = $8.48).

Next, CouponBee Kendall sent me a link to deals at Harris Teeter that began this morning.  Sorry for the delay.  I've been busy.  Anyway, HT is having their a tripe coupon event until next Tuesday at midnight.
Here's the link explaining the event: HT TRIPLE COUPON EVENT
Here's the link to some of the deals: HT Triple Coupon Deals.

I am using a coupon database to hunt for coupons to use on these and other deals.  Hot Coupon World database allows you to sort according to the denomination.  Select 25¢, 50¢, or 75¢ denominations and they will triple at HT.  BUT, only if it doesn't specify "Do Not Double or Triple" on it.
Here's the link to the Hot Coupon World database.

Next, enter the denomination of the coupon in the "search" field.
Type in this format:  $0.75 and NOT 75 cent or 75¢
Change the number of coupons that show to "ALL"

Fall Coupon Classes Coming!
Are you interested?  Let me know.  I would like to have a class of 15+ couponers to attend.  The cost for the class is the same as last year.  Five cans of veggies and two bottles of hot sauce.  All donations will go the Holiday baskets prepared by the United Methodist Women at our church.  Date, place (Laurel/Beltsville area), and time TBA.  For now, I just want to see if there is any interest.  One class would be identical to the introductory to couponing class last fall.  The second class would be more advanced but no so much that a beginning couponer would not benefit.

Finally, many thanks to CouponBees Kendall and Valda for passing on those coupon deals .

Happy Couponing!

  • Talenti Ice Cream $1/pint (My guilty pleasure!!!)

Staples

Click this link for the coupons featured below: Staples.com/coupons

These are only a few of the thousands of sales at each store.  When is it really a sale!  My measure of a sale is when an item is at least 25% to 30% or higher off the regular price of an item.  Most coupons will add another 25% to 30% off for a total savings of 50% to 60% or more when the coupon is added to the price of an item that is really on sale.  That why you wait for the item to be on sale "for real" and add those coupons.  Sharp smarter and add those coupons to sale items.

Happy Couponing!

Coupon Christmas in August!!!

Hey, Y'all!

It is coupon Christmas for me in August!  Five coupon inserts are expected next weekend (wk of 8/7):
I love it when we know this far in advance about upcoming coupons.  I can plan my next shopping trip and be really prepared to make some great deals.

Lots of coupon deals with this week's coupons for school supplies.  No one should be paying anything for mechanical pencils, pens, and highlighters.  There are coupons from last week, this past Sunday, and next week, too.  Office Depot, Staples, and Office Max all accept coupons.  Notebook paper:  WalMart.com has notebook paper for 50¢ per 100 sheets.  But you must order online and then pick it up at the store of your choice.  It comes in a ream of 500 sheets for $2.44.  Don't just buy enough to get them through the first quarter.  Buy for the entire year while the prices are really low.  Here's the link:  500 Sheets Filler Paper

Don't have time to go shopping for school supplies...order your supplies on Amazon.com or WalMart.com.  Amazon will deliver directly to your door, even on Sundays.  WalMart will deliver some supplies but all supplies can be picked up the same day  with no shipping charges.  Your school will have a list of required supplies available in the school office or online on the school's website or FaceBk.

I am leaving for my last camping trip with our grandkids, in the morning.  We are taking the youngest four to Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA.  It is a fun and magical place for younger children.  Our 9 year old said he doesn't want to go because it is for little kids (he went last year and for two years before that).  My 7 & 8 year old girls did not want to go, either. But, they love the camping experience and hanging with their cousins who will also be there.  Our 4 & 6 year old boys are so excited that they went to bed extra early.  They want to wake up early and help clean the floor in the motorhome before we leave.

We will have campfires each evening and all meals outdoors, too.  We have movie night each evening outside on my sister's big screen tv on her motorhome.  How many kids are going?  Eight (8)!  Whew!  I need some dessert.

Happy Couponing!

Coupon Previews 7/31 - 8/6

Getting Back to My Couponing Groove...

Trying to get back into my couponing groove.  I have been on three weekly camping trips this month with my grandkids.  I have been blessed with so many that I can only take three on each trip.  I have one three day camping trip next week with my two youngest grandsons.  I am also bringing along their two older sisters (7 & 8 yrs) to help them with their campground routine.

This month, we went to Water Country USA - Wmsbrg, VA; Dollywood - Pigeon Forge, TN; and Carowinds - Charlotte, NC.  Monday, we leave for Dutch WonderLand - Lancaster, PA.  Whew!  We will need a trip for just my husband and me after next week.  But, that will have to wait...

Next, this week we start shopping with a vengeance for school supplies.  Thankfully, three of our kids are in school uniforms.  The younger kids just look forward to new shoes, fresh hair cuts and hairdos, and new school supplies.

There are still tons of coupon deals for school supplies in this week's ads at Staples, WalMart, ShopRite, Office Depot, and of course, the Dollar Stores.  Most pharmacies have excellent school supplies deals, too.  All of those stores accept coupons but only supermarkets double them.  By now, you know which supermarkets double coupons.  If not, check their website or ask customer service when you shop there the next time.
WalMart Notebook Paper Deal (no coupon needed)
500 Sheets (1 Ream) of notebook paper for $2.50 (50cents/100 sheets)!  The lowest price I have seen is 75 cent for 100 sheets. Note: you will have to change the location to your local WalMart.

  • 1 cent per ream for copier paper (limit 4 reams) & 25% off all school supplies when you buy a backpack@ Staples - Go to Staples.com/coupons
  • Maryland Tax Free Week - Maryland Tax Free Week 2016 is Sunday, August 14th, 2016 to Saturday, August 20th, 2016.  For more information on which items qualify, go to MD Tax Free Week    Spoiler Alert: School supplies do not qualify.

That's all for now.  Happy Couponing!

Robocall protection for your cell phone(s) is now available.  Protection for your landline is still free.  If you want to protect your cell phone(s), the cost is $4.99 per month to protect the landline and cell phone(s).  You can protect up to four cell phones at that price.  I subscribed our home phone to basic service about 3 or 4 months ago.  I was getting more robocalls than regular phone calls.  Now, I get fewer and fewer robocalls but my phone only rings once.  That one ring lets me know that it was a robocall.  I just had to learn to pick up on the 2nd ring and not the first one.

This morning, my home phone rang at 8:30 AM.  I was fast asleep.  But, the phone only rang once.  It was a robocall.  In the beginning, it did block a couple of phone calls that were not robocalls.  All I did was add that number to the "blocked by accident" choice and that number was able to get through without a problem.

If you have senior/aging parents, this will give them and you peace of mind.  You will no longer have to worry about them receiving calls from scammers who prey on the elderly.

Coupon Insert Previews & Things...

Hey, Y'all!
Been really busy with end of the year events for our 10 kids.  The kids are my grandchildren.  They and their father now live with us and fill our home with the antics and chatter of kids from 4 years to 17 years old.  Our lives and our home will never be the same and most days that's more fun than not.

I am going to start doing my videos again.  I stopped making them because the only time I could have the quiet I wanted was when everyone was asleep.  Unfortunately, at my age, that is when I wanted to sleep, too.  However, recently, I have been watching some video of other large families (all smaller than ours) and their videos are filled with the banter and antics of their children.  Instead of that background music, they have kid background voices.  I hope to start tomorrow with a tour of my cold food storage.  Later this week, you will get a chance to visit our pantry storehouse.  I hope to do at least one video each week....at least that is the plan :o) My videos will give everyone a glimpse of our life in a "shoe".  "There was an old lady who lived in a shoe.  She had so many children..."  I'm that old lady and I am quickly figuring out what I need to do.  So, look out for the links to my youtube channel and be a part of My Big Family Life.

Here's the links to next week's inserts:

My Sweet ShopRite Deals of the Week!

If you don't have a local ShopRite near you, please, don't waste your time reading this.
Go clip some coupons. :o)

First Great Deal!

Sometimes, I luck up on a deal or coupons that I just have to share.   Here are a few really sweet deals at my local ShopRite here in Maryland (Silver Spring store).
In my home we have ten (10) children and three adults who all love to eat eggs.  So, if I don't have at least 4 or 5 dozen eggs in my refrigerator at all times, I start to panic.

The egg deal for 30 large eggs has been appearing at my local ShopRite for $2.09.  I thought that was a great deal until I saw  $1.77 for 30 large eggs.
That's about 6¢ per egg!!!  I will buy 4 (10 dz) today and 8 more later this week (20 dz).  (Limit is four cartons of 30 eggs) That should last us just about a month.
That's only about 2 dz eggs per person per month.  How do I use the eggs?  Pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, waffles, deviled eggs, pickled eggs, and more.
Eggs will stay fresh for 3 to 5 weeks after you purchase them.  Check this fact on StillTasty.com
Maybe I'll double that egg order :o)

Next Great Deal!
Skippy Peanut Butter Coupon
Coupon for printable Skippy Coupon (prints as a pdf, you can select the number of coupons you want to print) Skippy Coupon Link)
Pair the coupon with the SR digital coupon and get FREE peanut butter and then get addition jars for 99¢ each.
You can get 4 per variety but can use only 4 like coupons.

Here's yet another great deal match up!
I will be loading up on Zest and Coast bar soap.  We use about two/three bars per week.
The regular price is $4.24 for 8 bars (53¢ ea.)  Both are on sale at ShopRite for $2.99 for 8 bars.
I have Zest & Coast coupons for 50¢/1 that will double to $1 off. That will net me 8 bars for $1.99 (25¢ ea).
There is also a 50¢ digital coupon off one pack of 8 making one pack $2.49 and $1.49 when paired with the 50¢/1 qpon (doubles to $1).
Digital coupons can be paired with manufacturer's coupons but can only be used once. Digital coupons do not double.
Additional Zest and Coast coupons are available here:  CommonKindness.com

I will repeat these three deals at least twice this week.  In case you are wondering where I am storing all this stuff...
We have three refrigerators, two freezers, and a basement room used as our pantry.
We are not hoarding, its just a couple of week's worth of grocery shopping.

Finally, don't forget to load those digital coupons on your card.

Fun for Kids and Couponing, too!

Hey, Y'all!

Three inserts this weekend:
Cheap and Free Summer Fun for Kids:  Y'all know that I am all over this for my 10 grandkids who are living with my husband and me.  We found lots of free stuff in Baltimore and DC but the fare for 13 people on the metro is just about $121 (off peak) roundtrip and that does not include parking.

So, for us, free means we can load up our van and drive to our "free" entertainment or other fun happenings.

Here's some links to great free and cheap summer fun:
If you live near an Aldi, 1 gallon of milk is just $1.99.  We are down to our last two gallons.  I will get a dozen gallons or so and freeze them.  Just remember to pour about 8 oz out of the bottle to allow for expansion when it freezes.  Also, it takes about three to four days for the milk to defrost in your refrigerator.  Shake well once it is completely defrosted.

Eggs at Aldi are just 89¢/dz this weekend only (Fri & Sat).  Eggs at ShopRite are $2.09 for 2 1/2 dz (30 eggs).

Happy Couponing!
