New "To Me" Supermarket

What the heck is "Price Right"?  I got a sales flyer in my weekend paper this morning for "Price Rite".  I had never heard of it.  So, I looked it up and found locations for Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island & Virginia.  Here's the stores for Maryland.
  • 3104 Queen's Chapel RD -Hyattsville, MD - 301.887.1280
  • 5800 Silver Hill RD -District Heights, MD - 301.967.0513
  • Meadows Park Shopping Center - 6606 Security Blvd - Gwynn Oak, MD - 410.277.8902

I really got excited when I saw the sale on 40 oz. TIDE Simply Fresh for $2!
  I bought some $2 TIDE a couple of weeks ago (@ShopRite) but had to use $1 coupons that doubled to $2.
  The sale starts July 1 and ends July 11.
  I do not know how the prices of other items in the store compares to using coupons at other stores.  Price Rite does not accept any manufacturers' coupons.

How do they keep their prices so low:
  • limit quantities to 4 like items;
  • have smaller store staff numbers;
  • rarely advertise;
  • charge for grocery bags;
  • no rainchecks
  • No weekly circulars
  • No expensive store decor
  • Limiting the numbers of items we stock
  • Customers bring their own shopping bags
  • Smaller more shopable stores
Here's the link to the current (thru 6.30.15) Price Rite "Hot Buys".
  Be sure to register on their site for weekly deals because they rarely advertise.

Milk on sale at Walgreens $2.79 and large eggs $1.29 dz. my buy price is 10¢ per egg.  My stock up price to buy multiple dozens of eggs is 8¢ per egg.  My best price for 1 dz eggs was "free" a few months ago.  I hit a really great sale and used coupons to score that great deal last year. I try to keep 6 dozen eggs in my refrigerator at all times.  My 11 grandchildren stayed with me this week.  Out of the 71/2  (90 eggs) we bought last week and the dozen or so I had on hand, we used the last dozen this morning...WOW! They go home tomorrow.  Time to buy more eggs.

Finally, school supplies are starting to show up in the stores.  Don't buy now.  Wait until the coupons start showing up in July for more savings. Don't just buy what you or your children will use for the first week or so.  This will be your chance to stockpile school supplies for the rest of the year!

Happy Couponing!

Use the $1/2 coupon in the RedPlum insert for $1 pints of Ben & Jerry's ice cream at Harris Teeter.  Their "Super Doubles Event" is this week and ends Tuesday.  All coupons with a face value up to $2 will double.  So, all your $2 coupons will be worth $4 as long as the coupon does not say "Do Not Double".

I have had my 11 grandchildren all week.  One went back home for cheerleading camp and then there were still 10!  I have not touched an insert or coupon in 8 days!!!  Thank goodness for my stockpile :0)

My crew leaves Sunday afternoon.  I will be sad to see them go but I need a nap!

Tonight's Online Coupon Forum...

Hey, Y'all!
Tonight was our second online coupon forum.  Really getting the hang of it.  Using the phones for sound vs the computers worked well, too.

As requested, I am sending the notes from tonight's forum and the ones from last week, as well.

Expecting my 10+ grandkids tomorrow for about 10 days or so.  Yes, 10+ and they will all be staying with us.  #ThereWasAnOldLadyWhoLivedInAShoe... :o)

I will not have time for the online forum next week because of Vacation Bible School each evening and keeping watch over my brood.  They are truly a blessing.

I plan to teach them to coupon, too.  That should be fun.  I can't wait to get them hooked on couponing!

Safeway Weekly Ad

You must have the coupon to get the milk at that price.  I picked up two gallons this afternoon and will go back again Monday and Tuesday (the last day of the sale).  The coupons are in the Safeway sales flyer on the front page.  You can find them in the store near the entrance.  The limit is two per household per day.

I hope to have at least 6 to 10 gallons.  I will freeze the milk and thaw it when needed.  Thaw in the refrigerator Be sure to shake vigorously once it thaws.

How long does milk last?  Fresh milk will last 7 days past the sell by date.  Frozen milk will last indefinitely but for the best taste freeze no longer than 3 months.  Check out this website Still Tasty

Still a little time left to stock up on fresh eggs before the prices go through the roof.  Eggs will last 4 to 6 weeks.  Buy the eggs with the longest expiration date.

A good price for large eggs is 10¢ per egg or less.  Estimate your families egg usage and then buy that number + 1 dz.

Next, here's the Coupon Preview for June 21
Finally, I will be doing my second online coupon session on Wednesday evening.  I will send out the log on information Wednesday afternoon.

That's it!
Happy Couponing,

Coupon Ramblings...

Hey, Y'all!
By special request, I have compiled a list of the website links I shared during the coupon forum Monday night.

Here are the topics for the next online coupon forum.

Topics for Next Time: It will be next week. I will post the day and time this weekend.

  • Registering your shopping cards for free $$
  • Digital Couponing
  • Using the supermarkets' websites to check prices and make shopping lists.

I have a new organizational method for my coupons.  I now use a "coupon box" that I purchased online.  I like it because it allows me to take all of my coupons with me when I shop.  Unfortunately, the online store is closing.  But they are staying open until all of their inventory is sold.

One final note:  I saw that the avian flu has caused a severe shortage in poultry and eggs.  The FDA has approved the influx of eggs from Europe.  Once the flu has run its course, the prices will come down.  In the meantime, if you like eggs, stock up today.  Eggs will stay fresh for 3 to 5 weeks after you bring them home.  Check this link for more info on storing all types of eggs and egg dishes How Long Do Eggs Keep?

That's it for now!  Happy Couponing...
